Your Red Cross

The American Red Cross has been busy responding to home fires. With reports of colder weather coming later this week, the American Red Cross encourages everyone to be safe and use proper heating elements.

Here is a tip sheet on fire safety.

Financial Support

The Louisiana Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross serves a 10-parish area with a total population of more than 750,000 people. We are dedicated to providing these individuals and families with life-saving skills training, disaster response and Community Disaster Education.

Each year, we respond to major disasters, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and flooding, providing victims with emergency food, shelter and clothing. Daily, we assist victims of single-family house fires, certify individuals in First Aid and CPR, and hold Community Disaster Education presentations. And, American Red Cross serves as the official communication channel for families to reach their loved ones serving in the Armed Forces worldwide.

But, we cannot do this without the financial support and generosity of the American people. Several programs have been formed to assist in the Chapter’s on-going fund raising initiatives.
